Now is the time for more East Midlands companies to look at doing business in Southeast Asia – one of the world’s fastest growing regions, and play a key role in what is being dubbed – the ‘Asian Century’.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is the world’s 7th largest ‘economy’ and by 2030 it is predicted to eclipse Japan’s and be the world’s 4th largest ‘single market’ after the EU, US and China. ASEAN (630m). ASEAN is also home to more people than Europe (506million), and has the world’s third largest labour force, boasting an average growth rate of 5%.
During Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit to the ASEAN region to unlock huge opportunities for jobs and growth in the UK, the ASEAN Insight campaign was announced. The UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC) launched the ASEAN Insight campaign in September 2015 at the House of Commons, an initiative bringing ASEAN opportunities to the UK.
As UK’s global university with two mature campuses in Asia and a combined student population of over 11,000, The University of Nottingham warmly invites East Midlands businesses to attend a breakfast workshop in partnership with UKABC. The workshop will give a comprehensive ASEAN business update, including a political briefing from one of ASEAN’s Ambassadors to the UK; hear local export success stories; and find out what help is available to get you ASEAN-business ready. Following the seminar there will be an opportunity to build those key connections over coffee with fellow exporters and speakers.
